The Quiet Practice of Gratitude
佚名

ENGratitude is not only a feeling we save for big moments. We tend to reserve it for the extraordinary — a promotion, a reunion, a narrow escape. Yet the quiet practice of gratitude lives in the ordinary: in the warmth of a cup held between both hands, in the soft light that finds the floor each morning, in the simple fact that we woke, and the day is ours to begin again.

ENIt asks nothing grand of us. A kind word from a stranger, a message that arrives when we needed it, the steady hum of a refrigerator that means we are fed and sheltered. To notice these is not to pretend life is easy, but to admit that even on heavy days, something small and good is also true.

ENGratitude, practiced this way, changes how we see. The same walk becomes a chance to look, the same face a reason to smile. What we pay attention to grows; what we take for granted quietly shrinks. A thankful heart does not deny the dark — it simply remembers to leave a light on.

ENSo tonight, before the day folds into sleep, name one small thing you are glad of. It need not be important to anyone else. Let it be enough. In time, these small thanks gather, and what once felt ordinary begins to feel like a kind of grace.
